Wild Horses and Burros of Pahrump, NV #Freefred

Donation protected
Healthy, beautiful Wild horses and burros across Nevada are being forcibly taken out of their homes. Recently two herds of horses, as well as over 100 burros who called Pahrump, NV home, were rounded up and taken to Bureau of Land Management holding in Ridgecrest, CA. The people of Pahrump would like these horses and burros returned to our community and for the herds to remain as a family unit if possible. (We understand they will not be returning back to the wild). For this to happen, we need assistance with adoption fees, shade structure, feed, transportation fees --before BLM auctions occur in the near future. From there, we would like any remaining funds to support their ongoing care. 16-20 horses (some mares are pregnant) and 100+ burros are counting on us! Pending BLM approval, a location has now been secured. Additionally, the site is on the property of an existing 501(c)(3) (non-profit) equipped with trained staff. I have been asked to temporarily removed the name from this page, however, I do intend to continue working with them. No matter what, I reiterate, ALL FUNDS DONATED WILL BENEFIT PAHRUMP HERDS. Any help you can offer to these innocent animals is greatly appreciated. On behalf of Fred (the handsome paint in the picture) and his beautiful herd, as well as the people of Pahrump, we thank you. UPDATE: AS OF 10/19/23, Fred & Rosie were released from BLM; are currently being gentled at a sanctuary in AZ prior to transfer to their final home with the approved non-profit organization. We need assistance getting the remaining members of the herd released, as well as their ongoing care needs!! Without considering any potential medical or farrier care, horses require a minimum of $300/month to maintain (and depending on the price of hay/supplements, costs could easily increase).

One of the many things that made these herds so beloved, is during COVID lockdown, these herds roamed the back streets and desert lands near farms and the local nursing home of our country town. Skilled nursing facility residents, who were confined to the facility during COVID lockdown often enjoyed the view of the horses on the facility lawn. Essential staff had their spirits lifted while watching the horses and new colts being born nearby. Homebound residents, laid off or otherwise out of work, enjoyed watching the herd come up the street each day. These are special horses that belong to our community. Please help them return home.
