Help Will Heal After Tragic Workplace Shooting at Target

Donation protected

UPDATE - FEBRUARY 26, 2025

Hello everyone It has now been nearly 60 days since this tragedy began and over a month since Will was transferred to his current hospital, and in that time, he has made miraculous progress. The journey has been long and challenging, but Will continues to fight every single day, defying the odds and showing incredible strength.

We are overjoyed to share that Will is slowly regaining major skills—he is now able to breathe on his own, eat independently, and has begun to speak. Each of these milestones is nothing short of a miracle, and we are in awe of his determination. His recovery continues through intensive therapies, focusing on strengthening his body and rebuilding essential skills with the hope of regaining full mobility.

Looking ahead, the next major step in Will’s journey is his transfer to a world-renowned rehabilitation facility. This will be a crucial stage in his healing process, allowing him to further develop, strengthen, and regain mobility so that he can eventually return home.

We have seen God’s mercy and grace in Will’s recovery, and we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love and support. To every single person who has prayed, shared words of encouragement, donated, or kept Will in your thoughts—we truly cannot thank you enough. Your kindness has given us the strength to remain hopeful through the darkest moments.

While Will continues his journey, we ask for continued prayers, support, and shares of this fundraiser. Every donation helps ease the financial strain of long-term care and providing for his family during this time.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for standing with us. We know that where there is a Will, there is a way!

UPDATE - JANUARY 25, 2025

Hello everyone, this is Lauren, Will's Partner. His family and I wanted to provide an update on our amazing Will and give an endless amount of gratitude for every single person who has contributed in any capacity towards his healing journey.

It has been 27 long days since this nightmare began and by God's Grace, Will is progressing and healing every day. He is truly a miracle. Over this past month, Will's Medical Team has been working tirelessly to get his body to a place of stability. Due to the extensive trauma to his body, he has been deeply sedated the majority of this time and gone through many procedures to provide more long term care as his recovery process will be so extensive. He currently has a tracheostomy tube in his windpipe to help him breath and a feeding tube in his stomach to provide nutrition.

Our biggest hurdle we are facing now is the effect of this all on his brain. When his heart stopped over 9 times during surgery, each time that happened the brain essentially can be damaged. Every injury and patient is different and so we truly will not know the extent until his sedation fully clears out of his body and his brain starts waking up after this past month.

By the Grace of God, Will is finally at a place where he does not require intense sedation and he is awake, with his eyes wide open. He is able to track us with his eyes and at times respond by nodding. He is moving his limbs at times as well which are all very hopeful signs of his future progression.

Now that his body is much more stable, the next step will be transferring Will out of the Trauma Intensive Care Unit and into a different hospital that specifically aids in patients who need longer term care than your standard hospital. This is so that he continue to recover while being closely monitored with his Tracheostomy tube and feeding tube.

We are so thrilled to see Will's eyes open and looking right at us for the first time in so long and we remain so hopeful for his recovery.

The funds that have been donated so far will be going directly to Alice, Will's mother, to assist in her staying in Los Angeles (she lives in Las Vegas) to be by Will's side for as long as he needs her here.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all of the support and love that has come to Will and his family. The support has given us all even more encouragement to remain strong and steadfast in such a dark time. Thank you - Lauren
*********
On the evening of December 30th, our incredible Will was shot multiple times while working his shift as a security guard at a Target in downtown Los Angeles.

Will was shot through his femoral artery and nearly bled to death outside of the Target, if not for the tourniquets that were put on his wounds at the scene.

When he arrived at the emergency room only minutes later, he did not have a pulse and had lost a majority of his blood volume. The incredible medical team in the emergency department worked tirelessly on him until they were able to resuscitate him and bring him up to the operating room.

During surgery, Will's heart stopped at least 9 times, and the trauma surgeon had to open the side of his chest to perform a cardiac massage. The heroic efforts of the surgical team were a miracle and brought Will back from the very brink of death.

It has now been 13 days since Will's surgery, and we are continuing to wait for him to be strong enough to wake up from his sedation and intubation. The medical team continues to use one word to describe Will, "A Fighter."

Will's family and loved ones remain hopeful that he will be strong enough to recover and continue writing his life story.

The medical team has told us this is going to be an incredibly difficult and long uphill battle for Will—physically, emotionally, and financially. His family is currently taking shifts in the hospital round the clock to ensure Will always has someone by his side.

We are asking for any help to reduce the financial strain of medical bills, therapy costs, and providing for his family while they provide 24/7 support to Will. We are asking for this so that Will and his family can focus on recovery without the added stress of financial hardship.

Your donations will go toward:

- Covering extensive medical expenses, rehabilitation and home medical equipment

- Assisting with costs associated with long-term housing for his mother and brother as they have temporarily moved to Los Angeles from Las Vegas to support Will 24/7 in his recovery

Will is a beautiful soul who brings laughter and light into any room he walks into. He is a father to a 3-year-old little girl, a doting son, and a beloved brother. Will is a fighter who has always been there for others in their time of need. Now it’s our turn to stand by his side.

Every contribution—no matter the amount—will make a meaningful difference in helping Will rebuild his life after this traumatic event.

If you cannot donate at this time, please share this campaign with your network to help spread the word and send up some prayers for Will.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and support during this critical time.
