Help Willie and Frances Kearney on their road to rebuilding
Donation protected
We (Kimberly and Russell Kearney) are setting this up to help our parents, Willie and Frances Kearney, who lost their home of over 40 years to the Eaton Fire.
Their entire home burned down to the ground. There is NOTHING left. Just ashes, stairs, a chimney, a foundation, and a lifetime of memories that will forever be scarred by this tragedy. They are absolutely heartbroken. We are all so incredibly heartbroken. Devastated.
Our parents will have to rebuild from the ground up. Every single thing. Piece by piece, just like they did with their home. They evacuated with just the clothes on their backs and the car that they drove away in (the other vehicle was destroyed) and left behind so many memories of the home that they built together, their history – yearbooks, family photos, books, hopes, dreams, future plans, a garden for their grandchildren…
We are all so incredibly grateful that they did evacuate quickly even though they were unable to grab essentials. Thankfully they are both together and they are both safe. We are very blessed.
To make matters more difficult, it has already been an incredibly overwhelming past few years, as my parents have both settled into retirement, a fixed income, and my mom has been dealing with on-going health challenges that require in-home caregiver assistance.
We want to thank everyone who has reached out as the news has been unfolding. The outpouring of support, words of encouragement, check-in’s, and offers to help has been humbling, incredibly overwhelming… there are no words to express how truly grateful we are to have you all as a community, lifting us up in this very difficult time. Thank you all so much.
Many of you expressed feelings of hopelessness, feelings of helplessness, feelings of heartbreak wishing there was something you could do to help, and many of you urged us to set up a GoFundMe account.
Honestly, asking for donations is already incredibly uncomfortable. For those who know us, we are private people and we have a hard time asking for help. But we have to put all that aside and lean on those around us who want to help. The money requested will help our parents cover unexpected costs from the total loss of their home and help them get back on their feet and on the road to rebuilding their next chapter.
We truly appreciate any and all donations, if you are able to do so. We know there are a lot of people out there that need help. If you are unable to donate financially please help us spread the word through the community.
We will do our best to keep you all posted with updates!
Thank you all so much again for your help and support. It is so greatly appreciated.
Our sincerest gratitude – The Kearney Family
