Help Willis run again

UPDATE 7/1/2023

Yesterday we had to say our final goodbye to this special guy. He was surrounded by everyone that loved him. His other front leg became compromised and for the safety of Willis and everyone around him we made that difficult decision to let him go. He was still eating grass and left us with the dignity he deserved. We miss him terribly he was without a doubt one in a million. We feel so lucky to have been able to give him two and half years of retirement He thankfully was laid to rest at the barn he came from. He use to look down the hill at all of his horse friends so I knew it was the right place for him to go. Dr Caroline was by his side even on her day off to say her goodbyes and Kody who has been there every second throughout his care these past two years to calmly lay him to rest. Willis had such an amazing support team it's impossible to name everyone that helped him through this journey. Although I would never attempt this with another horse I don't regret what we did for Willis. He was so resilient and had such a will to live. Thank you to everyone that helped us give Willis his last two and a half years of retirement.

Hi my name is Kim we purchased Willis in March and after a week of owning him he was lame. Willis was born with a degenerative disease no one seemed to be aware of. Because his bones never formed correctly his tendon is now permenently over extended. We have exhausted all efforts to save his leg. Willis had surgery in New Hampshire in April that has proven to be unsuccessful. Willis is a candidate for a prosthetic leg. The vet performing the surgery is in Wyoming. He will need to stay there for 30 days to 4 months depending on how quickly he heels. Willis will be pasture sound and will be able to live out the rest of his life happily. Willis is only 13 years old and other than his injured leg he has no complaints. He has the most amazing personality and anyone you speak to that knows him quickly falls in love with him - one of the reasons we were so quick to purchase him. Willis was a well loved favorite school horse before we purchased him and he has become part of our family. I watch Willis in his stall camera at night laying down dreaming of running in his sleep. Please help us let Willis run again. I have personally funded all I can to this point. This is the vet scheduled to help Willis. Explanation of what they do the costs ect are all on the website.

The transportation service is scheduled to pick him up to bring him to Wyoming on August 23rd. We don't have much time to fundraise. Willis would be happy for you to visit bring him an apple and see for yourself why he deserves to live.
