Help Wilson and Jack Rebuild After Fire

Donation protected
On October 20th a chimney fire destroyed the home of the most wonderful people. Wilson and Jack, with Chicken (cat), Casey (dog), assorted fish and snails have found themselves homeless. The fire destroyed their clothes, bed, furniture and majority of personal property. Even the fish tank melted! Without the quick action of the volunteer firefighters of Cooper Landing the fish and snails would have perished.

Wilson had invested her savings into pursuing her dream of owning a food truck. Most of her business had been in their home; as she worked on cleaning/setting up the used truck she purchased. You may have tried her delicious soups at her food tent Hot Root this past summer located next to Wildmans. She had winter plans to partner with Estes Grocery store in Moose Pass. This tragedy has her business and livelihood reeling.

Wilson and Jack have been a member of Cooper Landing's precious community since 2017. Hardworking, honest and reliable they have supported our little town, and left a positive mark on our hospitality industry.

Winter is already a very difficult time in rural Alaska. Wilson and Jack had done everything in their power to set themselves up for the slim times ahead but the destruction of this fire is utterly devastating. There is no way to be prepared for literally losing everything. Emotionally the loss of treasured and loved plants, keepsakes, your dreamed of business, while juggling the reality that you are lucky to have not been harmed and your animals to have lived- is going to be a long struggle on its own. The reality is that there are immediate concerns for their families survival. They must find a place to live, clothes, shoes, winter gear, personal hygiene supplies, blankets, food, kitchen supplies, pet food, etc. Literally everything we use daily they have to replace immediately all at once! They still have car payments, phone bills, etc they are responsible for as well.

Please take a moment to see if there's anyway for you to help them. Accidents could happen to any of us. No one deserves to go through this alone. Every little bit helps this wonderful family!
