Help Winnie get her ears fixed
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My Aunt Kathy and Uncle Joey are undoubtably the kindest and most generous people I know. They have rescued not only one, but TWO, giant dogs that were being used solely to breed as many puppies as they could, and as frequently as possible in puppy mills. Fina, a wonderfully sassy Great Dane, came into their home first, partially blind as a result of a severe infection that required removal of her eye. A few years later, a new infection developed in Fina's other eye, that unfortunately also needed to be removed. Nonetheless, my Aunt and Uncle still had the most positive outlook, and adjusted to the challenges of caring for a dog with disabilities.
Most recently, they rescued Winnie, a spunky Newfoundland, who was neglected and left at a shelter when she no longer served her breeding purposes. Prior to being adopted, Winnie had never been inside of a warm home, and had never received proper medical attention. She developed dual ear infections that my Aunt and Uncle were aware of at the time of her adoption, but unbeknownst to them, these ear infections would persist over and over again, each time unresponsive to steroids and antibiotics, and each time leaving Winnie in more and more pain. My aunt has taken poor Winnie to the vet every two weeks for the past year, trying to save her ears. Today, they received some unfortunate news that both of Winnie's ear canals will have to be removed because of the severity of the infection. This surgery has to be done incrementally, and comes with many risks, but once again my Aunt and Uncle are willing to do almost anything to give their dog the best life possible.
I'm confident in saying most people would shy away from rescuing an adult dog, from a puppy mill, with medical issues and disabilities, yet my Aunt and Uncle did it twice. They have no idea that I'm starting this go Fund me, nor would they ever ask for help from anyone, but these surgeries are extremely expensive, and because Winnie was adopted with existing ear infections, she didn't qualify for their pet insurance. In the spirit of the Holiday season, I figured I'd try to help two of the most special people I know in any way possible. Anything contributed to Winnie's care would be deeply, deeply appreciated.
