Help Witch Hunt Theatre find a new venue!

My name is Taylor Stark. I am the Artistic Director of Witch Hunt Theatre - a company specializing in immersive, site-specific, horror theatre based in Portland, OR. I was lucky enough to be selected as one of two directors in a Master's program at Boston University where I will graduate with my MFA in Directing. This means I will be moving to Boston in the Fall. In the meantime, I am mounting one last production with Witch Hunt in Portland before I go: The Last Dance.

Because we are a site-specific company, we rely on the kindness of others letting us use their space for our performances. This production is no different. Unfortunately, we are also at the mercy of someone else's landlord and rental agreement. Due to the landlord's limitations on how we can use the space, we were informed that we would need to find a new location for our show that opens in a week. Since this change is happening on such short notice, we will have to rent a new space instead of using one for free. The cost of this endeavor far exceeds our budget.

We are hoping to crowdfund $2000 to allow us to perform The Last Dance in Portland. Without community support, we will not be able to mount this piece which also means we will not be able to pay our artists for all the hard work they have done.

The Last Dance has been a labor of love for the last six months. It was devised by ten young, diverse theatre makers and is a completely original work. It is directed, produced, and stage managed by women. Witch Hunt is committed to using horror as a vehicle for social commentary and The Last Dance is no exception. Through a series of short plays all set in a nightclub, The Last Dance explores themes of consent, toxic masculinity, the power of suggestion and influence, and just how far people will go to ascend the social ladder.
