Help with Birth Services for Baby Madera!

Donation protected
We are overjoyed and feel so blessed with our beautiful baby coming into our lives. In following the way we walk our life, staying closer to nature, and relearning all that has been forgotten or lost that were vital to society from our ancestors, we have chosen to have a homebirth. Both of Salvador’s parents were brought into this world by midwives at home. So we want to bring our son into this world in the same way it has been done for so many generations before us. With the current covid situations it also feels best. It is most important that Brittany is able to birth our child in a supportive and undisturbed environment.

We have chosen birth services including a midwife and doula that are not covered by insurance. Donations towards those fees are the most important gift you can give them at this time. Having a midwife, this particular one is our biggest wish to bring the baby healthy into this world. Brittany also does not get any paid maternity leave for the time she will take off to be solely with the baby.

We recently had a frozen pipe burst in our home. The bitter part was our plan was to have our home birth at our home. There were four rooms, the garage, and the basement that were ruined so we are looking at major reconstruction. We won’t be able to stay there while the demo and reconstruction process happens. This could be a 3-5 month process. We are in need of financial and emotional support. Now, our plans have shifted due to the flooding. Our home insurance should hopefully cover most of the rebuild, but the process is very stressful especially at this time. We would love your prayers as well.

The average cost of home births is expensive and at-home midwifery care is not covered under most insurance plans. We are incredibly privileged to have all of your support including family, friends, and our close relatives we often sit with us in prayer. All funds raised will go towards covering the birth costs and postpartum care. We are choosing to raise funds for these services instead of having a baby registry. There is a very small registry for those that love to buy a gift.

The freedom to choose the type of birth that is right for you is an undeniable human right that so many birthing people are deprived of in this country. Birthing people are often safer at home than in a hospital setting, where pushing unnecessary interventions that hinder natural labor occur which drives up C-section rates.

Brittany and Salvador believe that it takes a village. The family will spend the first 40 days at home with the baby to gently find a new rhythm of life. If you would like to support our family in welcoming our newest addition, please consider donating. We are truly grateful for any and all contributions! Love, The Madera Family xoxo
