Help with Brett Hudson's medical expenses

On Saturday, February 27, 2021, our coach, teammate, professor, account executive, mentor, brother, husband, father, cousin, nephew, and friend Brett Hudson suffered a severely fractured jaw from a blindsided punch. As you all know, football is one of Brett's passions, as is dominating his opponents. Well on this day, one of his opponents took offense to getting beat, and after the game, brutally sucker-punched Brett in the side of his face, shattering Brett's jaw. It should come as no surprise to anyone that rather than seeking some sort of revenge against his assailant, Brett decided to forgive and even apologize to him. He's also offered to befriend and mentor the very person who attacked him, and even bought his two-year old son a birthday gift!
Football is what brought Brett and I together, as it has with many of you. My friendship with him is now much deeper than that though, and I consider him family. However you know him, if there is anyone in this world who embodies "what would Jesus do," it's Brett. But the reality of his current physical condition is dire. He said it “feels like he’s chewing on his teeth” when he talks or moves his jaw. He can’t eat any solid foods. He has to have surgery (likely today) to have a metal plate inserted and his jaw wired shut, so his voice will be taken from him for the next 8 weeks of healing. His family does have medical insurance, but their policy has a 10% deductible which will be close to $10,000 (although he refuses to tell me the actual amount so I know it’s higher). He is also going to miss a good amount of work, as being able to speak is a huge part of his job.
His wife Jamie is a rockstar as we all know, and is doing everything she can to support Brett both physically and mentally. But they need our help! Anyone who is reading this who has been in Brett’s presence knows that he gives you 100% of himself and asks for nothing in return. I had to CONVINCE him to allow me to do this fundraiser for him, and I know with certainty that he’ll look at it as a debt to anyone and everyone who contributes. His only request was that people know that he values their time and memories of/with him over any amount of money that they’re willing to give.
So in addition to whatever generosity you’re willing to extend, Brett asks that you email or text him your favorite memory of him, what brought you together as friends, how he’s influenced your life, etc. This tragic incident has inspired Brett to do more, love more, give more, and become an even greater man that he was previously, and he wants to do that with all of you. As heartbreaking as this has been and will continue to be for Brett and his family, in his words: “This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It has obliterated the walls that kept people from knowing the impact they had on MY life. Choose love and pay it forward!”
On behalf of Brett, his wife Jamie, and his entire family, I humbly ask that you donate whatever you can to help out the Hudson family.
