Help with EJ's recovery & rehabilitation

This is my beautiful, strong, courageous cousin Elizabeth “EJ” Ervine.

My name is Michelle Sarkis (Ervine), she is my cousin, and I am setting up this GoFundMe for her as 6 weeks ago she was rushed to hospital with COVID.

Her family were told that she wouldn’t survive 3 times! And to get ready to say good-bye. Her organs had failed, she was on dialysis, her heart was enlarged, her liver was enlarged, and she was on life support! The Doctors told the family she had bleeding to 7 parts of her brain, and she may have brain damage!

She was in a coma for around 4 weeks, and it was a real roller coaster for her family and friends. But we never gave up, and neither did she. She is one hell of a fighter our EJ.

Through some kind of miracle or divine intervention, she is back to her old cheeky self! But as a result of her illness, she obtained gangrene in her two legs, her left hand, and fingers on her right hand. She is booked in to have an operation on Tuesday 8 August 2023 to have her legs removed at the knee.

She will require an operation shortly after to have her left hand and some fingers on her right hand removed.

I am organising this fundraiser for her to support her and her family now and through the rehab process and for modifications that will be required for her home when she can eventually return.

Her elderly parents live in Barraba an hour away from Tamworth Hospital, where she is now and are travelling every 2nd day to see her, so we would also like to be able to help them with petrol money for the visits as well.

EJ has worked in the disability sector for many, many years, and it's now time for us to support her on her own healing journey. She also set up the program – Services Our Way to help vulnerable Aboriginal people which is the most amazing program. Her empathy for others is unbelievable and it would be great to be able to give back to her in her time of need.
