Enoch Bratcher’s Big Foot Disaster
Thank you for your support of Enoch’s GoFundMe campaign! This campaign was set up to help Ruth and Paul with the mounting medical bills incurred for Enoch’s ongoing treatment after his tragic accident.
On Friday evening, 7/9/21, Enoch (14 years old) was mowing the grass in his backyard when he slipped and fell. Unfortunately, his left foot slipped under the mower, and the blades caused significant damage. Before the blades stopped rotating, the big toe and much of the surrounding bone/tissue were destroyed.
Enoch was taken by ambulance to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. He has gone through multiple surgeries to stabilize the wound and apply skin grafts as well as physical therapy over the next few weeks.
Did you know that as you walk, the big toe carries about 40% of the load? Due to it being such a significant loss, Enoch’s physical therapy will likely include having to relearn how to walk. He has found a love for lacrosse over the last few years, and we hope that through physical therapy, he will not only be able to walk again. The hope is that he will be able to run and continue his lacrosse career as well!
Even with insurance, the medical bills for his treatment and recovery will be a heavy burden for Enoch’s family. In addition, Paul and Ruth will be traveling back and forth from the hospital each day, which is 40 miles, round trip. Any amount you can donate will help alleviate that burden as well as help pay for meals both during their hospital stay and when they return home! Thanks again for your support!
