Help with Expenses for Tim Atkins

Donation protected

On Friday May 14th while at home with his daughters , my husband Tim suffered a massive heart attack and collapsed unresponsive. Amelia (13) called 911 and with their guidance started CPR on her dad. The amazing EMTs and paramedics worked tirelessly to bring him back before transporting him to Paoli ICU. He was put under medical hypothermia to try and minimize brain swelling. Unfortunately he did suffer some brain damage from the lack of oxygen during the resuscitation efforts , how much function he will recover is unknown, only time will tell. He is currently stable, awake, alert but unresponsive to commands. After 2 ½ weeks he was transferred to Select Specialty Acute Care Hospital within St Francis Hospital in Wilmington Delaware where he has been recovering for the last 6 weeks. I have spent everyday at his bedside in between keeping the barn and home running as smoothly and normally as possible. In the last couple of weeks I have been learning how to take care of him and in 10-14 days he will be discharged. The idea of putting him in a nursing home is not an option for me so we will be bringing him home to continue his care and recovery. Insurance will not cover in home care so any help is greatly appreciated so we can hire carers and keep moving forward with life.
