Help With Hospital & Living Expenses
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Bernadette Roush and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. I am fundraising for my brother-in-law, Jon Hill. Jon has been married to my sister, Dorothy, for 35 years and they have 4 adult daughters.
On January 17, 2024, Jon had two bad falls: one at work, and one later when he took his beloved dog for a walk. They didn’t get far from the front porch when he slipped on ice, and fell on his back, injuring his ribs and hitting his head. He was taken to the ER where x-rays confirmed seven broken ribs and a punctured left lung; he is lucky to be alive. ER staff reinflated his lung only for it to collapse again three days later. After spending 8 days in the hospital, he is home and starting to heal. His doctor said he will be off work for a very long time. Jon is self-employed and is the sole breadwinner. He has been taking care of Dorothy, who suffered a massive heart attack 4 years ago and has only 30% heart function.
This is the first time that Jon has been hospitalized or seen a doctor in his 61 years. In all the years I’ve known him, he has worked six days per week as a skilled carpenter – the hardest working person I’ve known. He is admired in the community for his work ethic and honesty. I know he is worried about providing and keeping a roof over their heads. If you can help with expenses, we would be grateful. If you are not able to give, we would covet your prayers.
