RAISE THE ROOF!

On Sunday, Dec 5th, 2021, my son Thomas's house burned to the ground. We did an initial GoFundMe, which raised enough to purchase a used 26' Komfort travel trailer and create a space for it at the top of my property. Thomas has been there, over a year now, while we navigated the process of moving a gifted manufactured home up to Teal. It's the photo for this post: and it's taken many, many people, and over a year, to happen. It's been challenging, complicated, expensive: we're now in repayment on a private note for the house move and primary electricity connection, the latter of which is awaiting easment approval. The only thing keeping Thomas from moving back up to his place is a new roof. Why? The roof was compromised during the move. We understood from the beginning that we would ultimately need to re-roof, but didn't expect it this soon. And no, please don't tell me to seek compensation from the moving company: they did what they were contracted for. So here's the bottom line. I ordered the new roof: it arrives Friday-SnapLoc metal. $5582.87. This includes all main roofing, all flashing, all fasters. It does NOT include the roughly $600 in other materials we'll need. Labor is free, thanks to my son, my partner Greg, and assorted friends. I've 'fronted' the $ over several credit cards and a charge account at the local hardware store. I'm now in way over my head. The things we do for our kids.....
