Help Hanson Brother Jeff Carlson's Medical Bills

Hello everyone! My name is Hunter Carlson and I have created this GoFundMe for my father Jeffery Carlson.
My father has been a huge influence in my life and I believe he has left a significant impact on some of your lives as well. He is a retired hockey player and some of you may recognize him from the movie Slapshot as one of the Hanson Brothers.
Back in 2016, Jeff had been dealing with some neck pain. After multiple doctors visits they decided on having him get an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion on his neck for C5-7. He went through months of physical therapy and he thought this was the end of his neck problems.
Fast forward a year and this is when he was diagnosed with throat cancer. He went through months of daily targeted radiation on his neck and various rounds of chemotherapy. After he completed his treatment, his cancer went into remission.
Jumping to the beginning of 2020, he had been dealing with some minor neck pain again. As the months went on, it progressively got worse and worse. He did not want to go in due to the pandemic and concerns about COVID-19. Finally in September, he went in to have it looked at as he could not wait any longer. After discussing with the doctor, they thought the best course of action was to have surgery on his neck again to fuse C3-5.
The surgery went well with no complications; however, due to the targeted radiation for his cancer in the past, his damaged tissue had caused severe swelling in his neck. This swelling made him unable to swallow any food or liquids. After 10 days in the hospital, x-rays showed that any swallowing led straight into his lungs instead of his stomach. The only option for him now was to have a Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy(PEG Tube) inserted directly to his stomach so he could get his necessary nutrients.
He is now required to have this tube in until the swelling in his neck reduces and his swallowing no longer goes into his lungs. The length of time for this to occur is still undetermined.
My father is retired and is living off just his social security. After 10 days in the hospital, 2 surgeries, follow up doctor visits, compounded by his previous cancer treatments, his medical bills continue to increase and have caused another overwhelming issue for him.
The funds gathered from the generosity of everyone will help him with his medical bills and with his every day expenses.
I sincerely appreciate all the help and I know my dad does as well. It is truly humbling and means to the world to both of us.
Thank you all and stay safe!
