Help with Kato’s amputation surgery bill
Donation protected
Hi, some sicko shot my cat Kato last week at close range with a shotgun, according to the vet. Despite this he made it home, covered in mud, through the cat flap and up the stairs to get help. The entry wound was a mess and a real risk of infection and his leg was shattered. He also has shot fragments in his chest and jaw which the vet said aren’t causing him any problems. It would cause more damage to remove them than leave them. Overnight Tues/Weds he had emergency surgery to remove the leg and clean up the wound. Thankfully he’s only 4 years old and otherwise healthy so came through the surgery really well. The vets said he was a model patient and loved all the fuss once he came round. He’s my little hero and known as “friendly cat” in the area as he’s a regular visitor with neighbours. I can’t understand why anyone would do this to him.
As the surgery was done overnight at the emergency vets the bill was £2,667.58. If anyone can help even a little bit towards the bill it would be a great help.
This happened in Rhydowen near Llandysul between approximately 5:30-7:30 PM on Tues 8th Feb. If anyone knows anything it has been reported to the police (crime ref number: DPP/4652/10/02/2022/02/C) and the RSPCA, please contact the police by calling 101 or filling in an online report.
If anyone else’s pet has been acting off in the area I urge them to get checked out as they may have been shot. The vets said they often find shot in pets when having an X-ray for other reasons. When a shotgun cartridge hits something the shot inside spreads out so an animal can have one or more bits of shot around the body without being shot by the cartridge directly.
