Help J with medical bills and broken knee recovery

Help J with their recovery from a broken knee, medical bills, physiotherapy and also to try to fix atheist front tooth that they broke when they fell from trying to use crutches.

 

Hello I’m J, a queer folk, drag artist of color immigrant from Brazil and dog walker.

On November 11th I fell on a citibike in Manhattan, the first thing that hit the floor was my knee. I went to a emergent care where they took a X-ray and told me I had broke my knee in two places, the Fibula and Tibia. From there I went to a bigger hospital because they thought I would need surgery, I got a CT scan, more X-rays and spent the whole day at the ER, they ended up releasing me and told me to look for an orthopedic surgeon as they didn’t have any available. I went to two surgeons a few days later to which they did more X-rays, a MRI and gave me a new knee cast. They told me luckily I won’t need surgery, but I won’t need to be able to put any weight on my knee for at least the first 3 months, and they will keep checking to see if I won’t still need surgery, after that I’ll need to do physiotherapy for months so I can build strength, movement and muscles on that leg again. I can’t stand for too long on crutches as my other leg starts to hurt and I’m dependent on people all the time, as I can not even get a cup of water by myself.
While I was learning how to walk with crutches I lost my balance, fell on my face and broke my front tooth. 

 

I used to work as a dog walker and was living paycheck to paycheck.

The bills from doctors, from the ER, all the X-rays, exams and even the visits came out to be more than $600 after copay and there’s still a few being processed.

 

I just found out that my health insurance was cut out November 31st and I won’t be able to go to doctors anymore until January 1st after a public health insurance kicks in that I just applied. But that insurance won’t cover physiotherapy that I’ll need to do in the future.

 

On top of that I still have bills to pay that every month keep coming and I won’t be able to work for a few months, until I recover.

 

Please anything, even the smallest that you can help it’ll be really really appreciated and helpful to help pay for medical bills, recovery, physiotherapy and also to try to fix my tooth that it broke when I fell from trying to use crutches.
