Help with medical bills for David (Morty) Morton
Donation protected
On January 7th, David fell down the stairs in his house in Salem, New Hampshire and suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury. He was taken taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Beth Israel in Boston. He has multiple injuries to his back and has had 3 surgeries to repair the damage. He currently has very little feeling from the waist down and limited movement with his arms and hands.
David has lived in Salem, his entire life, and was the primary caretaker of our mother, who will be 86 this month. David worked part time at the Marshalls in Salem and worked at Canobie Lake Park every summer.

David has been getting great care at Beth Israel in Boston, but we want to bring him to The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) Memorial Hermann in Houston as they specialize in spinal cord injuries. In addition to the costs surrounding the surgeries, David will require extensive physical therapy that will be out of pocket.
We are wanting to do this as soon as he is able to make the trip so he can begin his rehab. David is going to need constant support from the people who love him and bringing him to Houston will give us more opportunities to do so (plus David loves the Rockets).

We are creating this fundraiser to help with the costs of his surgeries, out of pocket medical expenses, medical transport from Boston to Houston, and physical therapy. Due to the nature of his injury, a flight equipped with a medical team will be needed to transport him to Houston. Grace On Wings, a nonprofit, has generously donated the flight (less the fuel cost) and the medical team. We think transporting him to TIRR will give him the best possible care and we are ready to be there with him every step of the way.
Please keep David in your thoughts and prayers. We are thankful to still have him here with us and look forward to the road to recovery.
