Help with Medical Expenses for Darryl Holcomb

Sometimes even our heroes need help.

Hello, my name is Jonnie Alexander, 13 years ago I met the love of my life. Unlike many son-in-law stories, my in-laws have blessed my life in more ways than I could imagine. My father-in-law, Darryl Holcomb, taught lessons that inspire the man I am today as a role model, devoted husband, loving father, engaged grandfather, inspiring coach, and hard worker. Darryl shared his love and wisdom with family and invested in the lives of generations as part of recreational sports to our youth across Franklin County.

Darryl is a hero to me and invested in so many others, he is the first to show up without even asking questions. Whether it's to help with a back-breaking patio, countless practices, and games, or even step up to support a young lady who needed a partner for a daddy-daughter dance (pink tutu and all). I am sure there are more stories that I am not aware of; Darryl is the one we could all count on.

I am creating this GoFundMe page for Darryl because a hero to us all is now in need of our support and encouragement. If you are unaware of the story, Darryl had a UTV accident this weekend which resulted in a broken neck. Following an air evac and emergency surgery he is receiving excellent care at Roanoke Memorial ICU. He is currently experiencing paralysis from the chest down; however, this recovery journey is just starting. This will be a long and unfortunately expensive journey, with Barbara and his family and friends by his side.

[Update 11-04-23] Darryl is still in the ICU and is experiencing issues with his heart periodically stopping. He will soon be getting a temporary pacemaker to help manage the episodes and is on a ventilator to help him breathe. On a positive note, Darryl has been accepted to the Shepards Rehab Center in Atlanta, Georgia and will be leaving once his vitals are stable. As for the donations, I am at a loss of words from everyone's generosity. It is amazing to see how so many love and care about Darryl. We ask that you continue praying for Darryl and those close to him.

All donations helping this hero to our family and the Franklin County community would be humbly and greatly appreciated, no gift is too small. Prayers, positive thoughts, and encouragement are cherished along this journey. I will update this page with milestones. Thank you for sharing your love and respect for Darryl.
