Help With Michael Winn's Recovery

Donation protected
Introduction:

Michael Winn is an incredible character animator and adjunct professor located in Southfield, MI. If you are one of the many blessed people who have had Mike touch your life in some way, then you know how genuine, kind-hearted, authentic and talented he really is. Mike always goes above and beyond the call of duty and puts everyone else before himself. He has guided hundreds of creatives in the past decade as an instructor and inspired many with his work; such as the ARMSMasters project (http://www.aoanimation.com/armsmasters.html ). To know that there was a chance that we would have lost such an amazing talent and human being is heartbreaking. Fortunately, Michael was able to pull through and has spent the remainder of the year working on his recovery.

What the Funding Will be Used For:

Though Michael’s strength is slowly returning, his finances have suffered in the wake of this event. Not only has he spent months in the hospital, but Mike will have to continue receiving treatment and therapy in order to fully heal. Having known Michael and his family for a significant part of my life, I know that this weight on his shoulders is making it harder for him to focus on his health. That is why his family and I are here today asking for your support.

Words from Michael:

11/6/19

"So I'm finally coming back to life bit by bit. I just wanted to share what happened as it's been a long road with a long road ahead. To put it bluntly, Earlier this fall I was hit with a Cellulitis infection which led to an infection in my bloodstream and at the same time, my kidneys were on the verge of failure. So much has happened it feels surreal and dreamlike. When I say that I was on death's door, I mean that literally. I could have died and was experiencing full-on hallucinations. I was at risk of having my right leg amputated and had to be rushed into surgery and had -several- procedures are done.

Did I mention they lost my phone, my clothes, and my contact lenses when In the hospital? I spent about a month being basically blind, I never even saw my nurses and doctors face clearly. And yet, I am quite serious when I say that God saved my life and saved my leg.

I was bedridden in the hospital for nearly a month and a half and then following that had to spend weeks in a physical rehab facility. I'm still dealing with daily wound care but I am -home- today, right now, walking and getting stronger. I can't even begin to go down the list of the miracles I saw and things I experienced but I am so thankful for where I'm at now.

I haven't even drawn in like, a month but I'm coming back and looking forward to what the next few months bring. :D

I've only shared this story with a few individuals up until this point but I wanted to publically post a summary now that I am home. I want to thank everyone for their prayers, well wishes, and general inquiries and I'll be getting active again as my healing continues to manifest.
Thanks!"

"I certainly did not plan or think my Christmas season would be like this. But I am so thankful for the gift of just being here. A rare bacteria (20,000 a year with a 30% mortality rate..) Doctors who said they didn't think I would make it. Most doctors stating they would have just taken my lower right leg but God giving me the doctor that wanted to save it - and did! I spent another three weeks in Beaumont - over my birthday no less and right up to just a few days before Christmas. This is my testimony! I'm healing much better and faster now as that second trip was what I needed and I know it'll be a long journey but I am so happy and blessed right now.

So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! I think I'm having a great one and I hope everyone else is as well!"
