Help with multiple cancer infusions
Donation protected
Hi, my name is John Abel and I hate to have to resort to this, but I have no choice now. About a month ago I was diagnosed with a very fast-moving cancer. It's in my lung, liver and now my lymph glands. My oncologist is very good and blunt, which I appreciate. He told me "I can't save you, but I can prolong you." He gave me two options: multi-drug chemo for an unspecified time that could give me one to three more years (or maybe more; he says it depends on the patient); or don't do the chemo and live for eight to twelve weeks at most. I have gone with the chemo.
Now a little about me: I'm 69 years old. My only income is Social Security, which isn't much. I have Medicare and Medicaid, which will pay a portion of the infusions. The average cost of multi-drug chemo runs about $8,000 per infusion. I'm scheduled for four infusions this month and probably more later.
I still have to pay my monthly bills, housing costs, food, credit cards, etc. So I'm between a rock and a hard place. Any size donation will be greatly appreciated. I don't know what else to say, except thank you and God bless you.
