Help With Nanay Sol's COVID-19 Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My grandmother, or lola, Nanay Sol, is one of the brightest souls in my life. Although growing up in the United States has made it difficult for me to see Nanay often, I treasure the moments when I have felt the warmth of her embrace, wrapping me with her unconditional love. Even from miles away, she has continued to radiate joy and laughter through telling us jokes on Facebook messenger calls and making sure that we are always doing well. I'd like to say I get my sense of humor from her, but I don't think I'm nearly as funny.
A few weeks ago, Nanay Sol suddenly felt very weak and seemed to be losing her consciousness. My Tito Ronnie rushed her to the hospital emergency room, where they provided her with antibiotics to help with her pneumonia, which is what they assumed was the cause of her sickness. This seemed to somewhat help her condition for a few days. Unfortunately, shortly after, she then began to experience seizures and pain throughout her body. She was rushed to the hospital again, where they diagnosed her with a urinary tract infection. The healthcare staff then advised for her to return home and opt for a home care service.
However, a few days later, Nanay tested positive for COVID-19. She began to have difficulty breathing and could not move on her own. Because of the nature of the disease, the virus caused her physical state to become progressively worse. Due to the high number of cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, the hospitals are at full capacity, making it almost impossible for us to find a place for Nanay to stay. Her oxygen levels began to lower to very concerning levels. Thankfully, after sleepless nights of phone calls, she was finally admitted to Ace Hospital in Quezon City. She is now being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
Nanay's hospital bill is nearing 1,000,000 pesos, and it is continuing to go up as she attempts to recover from the virus. My heart breaks as my family attempts to do what is best for Nanay, while still trying to figure out how we will cover the costs of her stay in the hospital.
If you are able, we would greatly appreciate it if you could contribute whatever you can to our GoFundMe. Even $1 would make a huge difference. We will be forever grateful for your contribution.
If you are unable to donate, I still greatly appreciate you for reading our story. Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers as we hope for the complete healing of my grandmother.
Kayang kaya mo yan, Nanay! See you soon! Miss you, love you! Mwah! :)
