Help with our puppy after vicious attack

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and a plea for help. Our 6-month-old Black Golden Doodle, Lenox, was brutally attacked by an off-leash pit bull while we were on our daily walk early Sunday morning on June 30th. This terrifying incident has left Lenox with severe injuries and in urgent need of medical care. Lenox needed an overnight hospital stay, 10 stitches and two drains. In the city of New York, pets are considered property, so the police did not assist and directed us to civil court for damages. We have not been able to locate the owner of the dog, due to him fleeing the scene, we have no information to provide the court. After multiple vet visits and two weeks off work to tend to his injuries, the medical bills have piled high, which have put us in financial hardship.
