*** People have the assumption that the military covers all expenses, I assure you they do not! VA covers burial expenses, not funeral expenses. As we have recently learned, there is a difference. Due to the ongoing homicide investigation, everything has been taken as evidence. Which means all of her daughters belongings are gone! 2 funeral home expenses, and other costs.

My sister was only 25 years old, and the victim of homicide!

We have started this go fund me account to try and cover the cost of these unexpected expenses of my sisters funeral and burial. Due to the fact that her death occurred in Hawaii and we are bringing her body back to Florida, our family has accrued the expenses from two different funeral homes. If any more money is raised past covering expenses, that money will be put into a trust fund for Selena‘s daughter.

Selena is leaving behind a beautiful young daughter, who will never get the chance to know her mother. She is leaving behind a father and a mother who adored her, no Parent should ever have to bury their child. Selena is leaving behind many siblings, we are all grieving for the loss of our baby sister. 

A little bit about Selena; She was an army veteran who fought for the rights of female active duty members. She fought against domestic violence and military sexual trauma (MST) in the military. Selena was a huge advocate for animals, she adopted many herself. She would take animal food and feed the homeless animals when she could find them. If Selena thought you needed the coat off of her back more than she did, without question she would just give it to you. She fought for what she believed in, even if the people around her did not agree, she always fought for what was right. 

This is a tragedy that should have never happened, it was senseless. Our job as her family and friends now, is to make sure that her daughter knows her and knows how kind her heart was, and how much her mother loved her!
