Help with Wilbur's Emergency Surgeries
Donation protected
Hello all! My name is Vivian, Wilbur's auntie. I'm creating this Go Fund Me on behalf of my brother, Chris, and our beloved troublemaker, Wilbur.
Wilbur is an 8-month-old red golden retriever with the biggest personality. He is the happiest, sweetest, most cuddly little pup that has a zest for life that is insanely contagious.
In February 2022 following days of vomiting, lethargy, and no appetite, Wilbur underwent his first emergency exploratory laparotomy and enterotomy to remove a blockage in his ascending colon that turned out to be small stones and parts of one of his toys. Costs totaled $5,067. Recovery was slow as he still had intermittent vomiting.
In the past few days, symptoms had become increasingly more alarming. Therefore we took him to the vet to get examined. X-rays were negative, however ultrasound revealed another blockage. Wilbur was admitted for another emergency laparotomy/enterotomy on April 9th to remove the blockage. During the operation, they discovered that part of Wilbur's intestinal tissue was necrotic and needed to be resected and reconnected. Thankfully, the surgery went well and Wilbur is currently resting. Hopefully he fully recovers and goes back to his usual energetic self. This second emergency surgery totaled $7,225.
If anyone is willing to help offset these unexpected costs of the surgeries, vet fees, and exam costs, we would be extremely grateful. Insurance is covering a portion, but the remaining balance is still substantial for our family to cover alone. Any contribution or share is appreciated. Thank you for reading our story!
