I am Raghad, a mother of four children. My son Abdul Rahman, who is four years old and was born with Down syndrome, holds a special place in my heart. His innocent smile and laughter brought light into our home. Every day, I took him to a center where he received therapy and care, and he’d return with drawings I treasured deeply.

But everything changed in a single night.

The Night of the Bombing

That night, as bombs echoed closer, I held my children tightly, trying to hide my fear. Suddenly, a massive explosion shook the ground, and our house collapsed over us. I heard my children’s screams… then silence.

I woke up trapped under the rubble, struggling to breathe. My body ached, but all I could think about was my children. Then, through the silence, I heard Abdul Rahman’s faint cry. His voice was weak, unlike his usual cheerful sounds, but it gave me hope amid the devastation.

Life After the Rescue

When rescuers pulled us from the rubble, I saw Abdul Rahman—his face covered in dust, his eyes searching for me. I held him, knowing I could no longer protect him from the harsh reality we faced.

Now, we live in a tent with no clean water, no electricity, and no medical care. The center that cared for Abdul Rahman was destroyed, and every day I watch him lose the progress he made. His smile, once so bright, is fading.
