Help Women to Live a Violent-Free Life

The Cultural, Educational and Social Association of Pakistani Women (ACESOP), an NGO was born in May 2005, which works to improve the quality of life of Pakistani immigrant women and others living in Spain.  ACESOP organizes local language classes for newcomers and also helps women learn skills, job search and job placement, health and prevention, as well as the organization of social and cultural events with collaboration and interaction with neighborhood associations, Pakistani businesses and institutions. ACESOP actively works to improve the relationship between the Pakistani community in Spain and the Spanish population - in general. Their work focuses on raising awareness of women's rights through training women at the grassroots level and making women self-reliant and strong-minded so that they participate fully in economic life. It works intensively to prevent the social and educational decapitalization of young Pakistani women who accept arranged marriages with men residing in their country of origin and as specific objectives to characterize the cultural and socioeconomic factors underlying arranged marriages as well as to understand the motivations and degree of acceptance of this practice by the community.
