Help Wood and Gregory Families Rebuild After Hurricane Flood

Dear Friends and Kind-hearted Strangers,

I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a plea for help. My family and I have been through an unimaginable ordeal due to the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Debby. We were staying at my mom’s house temporarily, as we had just sold our own home. When the floodwaters came, we had to evacuate—my husband, our 8-month-old baby, my mom, and I, along with six beloved pets. We waded through waist-deep, snake- and spider-infested water, cutting through a fence and running half a mile to safety.

Our vehicles were submerged, and my mom’s house, filled with all our belongings and memories, was completely destroyed. To make matters worse, there was no flood insurance because the area was not considered a flood zone. We lost everything.

I have always been reluctant to ask for financial help, but the outpouring of support from friends and family has encouraged me to set up this campaign. We are in desperate need of funds to restore my mom’s house, replace essential items, and provide for our baby. I left with only two pairs of clothes, one of which is my work scrubs. My husband and family are using kayaks to salvage whatever they can, but the sewage-contaminated water has ruined so much.
