Help Woodbury Preschool Rebuild After the Eaton Fire
Donation protected
Woodbury Preschool Village has supported the families of Altadena for over 37 years. We've had the honor and privilege of being the first educational step for countless children, helping them build confidence and improve their skills as they become ready for kindergarten.
The Eaton Fire shut us down for over two weeks, and while our buildings are still standing, we had extensive smoke damage. In order to make our facility safe, we hired a restoration company to clean and disinfect every classroom from floor to ceiling. We threw out the majority of our toys, all our books, puzzles, and any paper or material items such as cloth cubbies, baby dolls, etc. The AC ducts and vents were cleaned, and the insulation in the attics was removed and new insulation was installed. Class rugs were thrown out, and any installed carpet was removed and replaced with vinyl flooring. The houses were power washed on the outside, and the turf was power washed and disinfected. We purchased Air Doctor AD5000 purifiers for every cottage and have them running 24/7. The majority of the outdoor equipment has been thrown out, with a select few pieces being power washed and/or repainted.
In the midst of this tragedy, we have been inspired by the amazing ways this community has come together. We know that many families in our community are facing even greater challenges, having lost their homes and possessions. Our heart goes out to all those affected.
We’ve received an outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and even strangers who’ve reached out asking how they can help. It was suggested we create this GoFundMe to give those who want to contribute an opportunity to do so. We are seeking assistance to cover unexpected costs that have come up and to bridge the gap for the decreased enrollment due to the complexity of the rebuilding process. Please know that donations will help supplement what is not covered by insurance or other aid.
Thank you so much for your kindness during this tragic and stressful time. We are deeply grateful for every contribution. If you are able to donate, it would mean the world to us. If you are unable to donate, we would be so appreciative if you could share this page with others who might be able to help.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support of Woodbury Preschool during this inconceivably difficult time. We are deeply thankful for your generosity.
With the love and support of our community, we have begun the rebuilding process. Lots of hugs, volunteer workers, and donations of new books, toys, and equipment have been keeping our hearts warm.
In moments like these, it’s incredible how we have the capacity to come together. Together, we can rebuild our community and continue the important work of helping children thrive.
