RIP Wootz Damascus
Jan 14, 2021 - July 16 2023
After a last visit that was promising on Saturday he spent a night breathing his best but fluids from Pneumonia and inflammation in his lungs and airway created a condition known as ARDS
They took The best of care of my best friend. He left this world this morning to continue his goal to spread love and compassion not just here on earth but now to the entire universe
It matters not that he’s gone, but that he was here. My heart is forever imprinted with his undeniable Charm & LOVE
Rest in Peace ❤️

****Extra Special Thanks Update
This mission to fix his soft palette & clear an airway suitable for a life worth living was his only chance for the future. This operation was not without the risks that Wootz unfortunately experienced. 3% die from this operation. This is why I knew my little guy had to go to the best hospital I could find for him. This was Tuft animalHospital in Grafton mass with a referral we went hopefully and happy. It is sad to say Wootz would have passed away on Tuesday if it wasn't for the amazing efforts from his extensive team of caring knowledgeable, professionals combined of loving doctors, vet-techs, custodians, caretakers, & building staff and all of the people who I failed to mention here or acknowledge who have showed love & support. This extremely difficult process hasn't been easy for anyone. 1st for Lil'Wootz Damascus has had to endure 2 1/2 years of his short life struggling to breathe like other normal dogs he's almost ready to join the world again. I pray and hope
I can tell you how much everyone's support and care has helped us get thru this crisis. No one knows how to show love more than a bulldog. I've experienced in life until this outpouring of support & gratitude. We have faith in hope in our team helping at the hospital and even love for the army of people willing to help us get thru this one day at a time. Nothing ventured nothing gained so I sit here drafting this update I pray we can continue to improve and become united as a small family again home n happy living a simple life again. Support thru actions large and small make big impact on our attitudes. My father said, Attitude determines Altitude!!!! He lived a great life as positivity was viewed as his only option even in the face of cancer he walked thru fear. With this strong example I hope I can continue to be the father to Wootz my Dad was to me when he saved my life from my experience at Shriners burn victims hospital or being taught how to walk thru life life leading with love ❤️ instead of fear. With that I'm scared of what chapter one next but with the help of everyone here and those I failed to mention we have a chance a life today because of all of the amazing people we see and meeting in times like these. My greatest Thank You and walk with Wootz I plan to share with everyone when he comes home
Please keep
Sharing his story and sending the LOVE & Prayers is the best only way out of this one! So much LOVE & Gratitude for all your help!!!

***Update from this morning July 15 2023
im going to see him at 2pm snd will know more. He’s fighting hard this I know it’s not bad news but hasn’t been flowery either so I’ll post the update at the bottom of this thread.
Below the opening here
******Story Began Here*************
Meet Wootz! He brings so much love & happiness to every person he meets. Wootz was born with an air way 50% smaller than most bulldogs. He has has struggled to breathe since he was a puppy day 1. He underwent surgery a year ago to fix his nose, however this didn’t create enough airflow. On Monday July 10, 2023 he had an additional surgery to fix this issue. The surgery was a success. However, in the night Wootz threw up & aspirated into his lung and he developed severe pneumonia. The emergency team at Tufts sprung into action to save his life. Wootz is now on a ventilator and has been improving steadily. The plan is to take him off the ventilator & have him breathe on his own; but if he can’t he may need a tracheotomy to
save him. Because of all the complications the vet bills are continuing to accumulate when it’s all done it will be north of $15,000. If you can spare any money to help Wootz it would be appreciated to make this situation less stressful; and the money will go directly to his care and recovery. Those who donation will receive a chance in the drawing to win a prized item donated for Wootz’s recovery fund.
The legendary Celtics super-fan, ChickenHat iconic Celtics Blazer! An invaluable item for any Boston sports fan!
He will return the love to each who helps tenfold if you can find it in your heart to skip your cup of Joe today & fill up your cup with love & help Bulldog who really needs it. Your coffee money or what you can donate instead will help bring him home hopefully & allow Wootz to complete his mission of spreading LOVE & smiles with every person he meets.
Thanks for helping Wootz!!
****Update as of Saturday morning prior to my vet call at 1pm
Yesterday at 3pm Wootz had Temporary tracheotomy to restore breathing better so his inflammation in the soft palette that they previously removed 3cm of tissue. He was back on ventilators I believe with this tracheotomy in place if I understand correctly. His condition has improved mostly steadily but some setbacks have happened but he a fighter and continues to show signs hope & progress. On Friday this became necessary. They went back & removed more soft palette to clear a greater path and added a tracheotomy to bypass where the throat inflammation was problematic in the airway he needed cleared out.
I will get an update at noon or 1pm about how last night went & the plans for today. My call will set the table for a plan to return home hopefully Sunday or I should start to expect an update for something less positive if progress with these actions hasn't proved effective.
I had a very positive call ending with updates on yesterday efforts around 8pm. With fingers crossed & a heavy heart I have faith and hope this little spiritual warrior will make the turn for home as the finish line we all have envisioned.
