Help Wren Afford Bottom Surgery

Hey all! It’s been a little over a year since I started MTF hormone replacement therapy, and it has changed my life so drastically for the better! When I first started taking the hormones it felt like I was seeing color for the first time, like a mental fog that had existed my entire life was suddenly lifted. I could finally be free. However, with as much euphoria as HRT brought, I still definitely struggle with physical dysphoria, and I want to change that.

My physical dysphoria stems from a small handful of problem spots that leave me doubled over in pain and discomfort . For those who have not experienced gender dysphoria about your body, it’s atrocious. I think it’s best described as a feeling of dire, deadly wrongness. I would like to get rid of this burden that has plagued me for decades. That is why I am starting the process of scheduling 1st stage bottom surgery. Unfortunately, trans surgeries are expensive and whether my insurance will cover any of it is up in the air. At best it’ll cost just under $2,000 at worst around $8,000.

For this reason, my partner Luca and I decided it was best to start a fundraising campaign during my birthday so that I could have the means to go through with this insanely important surgery. I would be incredibly grateful if you could chip in a few dollars here on this page!

Alternatively, you could buy a print or two from the fundraising portion of Luca’s online shop. These prints mean a lot to me; I have always used self-portrait photography as a way to cope with my dysphoria and negative feelings to make something beautiful. These are actually the first prints of my work I am ever selling, and are a return to my favored style of brightly colored long exposure photography. Along with the photographs, there is a second collection of prints that are collaborative pieces where Luca used their gestural talent in digital art to enhance other photos I took. All proceeds from both the prints and this page will be going to my bottom surgery, if by some miracle the surgery costs less than the amount of money raised that money will instead be used for electrolysis to remove my facial hair (my second biggest problem area) and if we have enough money for both then I'll be getting a tracheal shave.
