Help Writers Travel to the Breakthrough Festival
Donation protected
The Breakthrough Festival (http://www.breakthroughfestival.org.uk) is a completely free, inclusive day of workshops, talks and one-to-ones. It will be held at Twitter HQ in London on Saturday the 29th June and will feature an array of writers editors and publishing organisations including:
Sabeena Akhar, Debi Alper, Sue Armstrong, Lisa Blower, Jessie Burton, Louise Doughty, Katie Espiner, Emma Flint, Olivia Gagan, Esther Harris, Abbie Headon, Kerry Hudson, Kickstarter, Gillian McCallister, Rachel McCormac, Sam Missingham, Vicky Newham, Simon Savidge, Holly Seddon, James Smythe, Society of Authors, Annie Sutton, The Good Agency, English PEN, Unbounders, Christie Watson and Penguin Random House.
One of the greatest barriers to access to writing events, community and development for those from underrepresented backgrounds is not the cost of the entry but the expense of the travel to these events.
Please help us help writers to travel to the Breakthrough Festival with whatever you're able to donate. The National Centre for Writing (https://nationalcentreforwriting.org.uk) are kindly donating their time to manage and administrate this bursary fund - meaning you can know your money will be properly dealt with and will reach those most in need of the support.
The figure of £2000 is an arbitrary one but anything raised over and above will be put into a bursary for marginalised talented writers to attend other literary events. I appreciate not everyone is able to donate. If you can't please consider sharing this with your network so we can ensure those who most need the opportunity can attend it.
