Help Wyeth get to the 2022 Norway Cup!

Hi!

My name is Wyeth Ferris.

I am 12 years old and I live in Brooklyn NY

and, … I love soccer!

I have been playing “the beautiful game” since I was 4 years old.

I love playing soccer and trying to master the skills, strategies and athleticism with my teammates.

I currently play for Sporting Club Gjøa, the oldest youth soccer club in New York! Sporting Club Gjøa is a 111 year old Norwegian soccer club based here in Brooklyn, NY. The club got its name from the Norwegian ship Gjøa, the first ship to sail the northwest passage. The Norwegians are obviously very proud of this nautical accomplishment and the boat named Gjøa is currently on display at a museum in Oslo, Norway.

This year I, along with my Gjøa U13 teammates, have been invited to play in the Norway Cup in Oslo, Norway. The Norway Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament in the world! The 2022 Norway Cup is a week-long event running from July 29th through August 7th. More than 2000 teams from over 50 countries compete in this annual tournament, referred to as “The world's largest youth soccer tournament”.

I'm excited and grateful to be given this opportunity. This is a once in a lifetime experience for myself and my teammates. We will play soccer against international teams, sleep on school floors and eat in a communal dining hall. During our time at the Norway Cup we will build international friendships, go to museums, learn about Norwegian culture and make memories for life! We are even planning to visit the actual Gjøa ship our club is named after!

My goal with this GoFundMe is to raise money for this opportunity to attend and play in the 2022 Norway Cup.

My goal is to complete 25 community service projects. These projects might include volunteering at food pantries, community clean up, helping at homeless shelters, and any other community service and volunteering opportunities I can find. In exchange for your support, I will not only get to travel, participate and experience the 2022 Norway Cup, but I will make a positive change in my community and in the lives of others.

My expenses for this trip are as follows:

Flights $1100 to $1600.

Norway Cup Entry Fee $1075.

Spending Money $100. (Food, Museums and Souvenirs)

During this GoFundMe I will update my sponsors, family, and friends with my volunteering success and challenges. I will post photos and updates on my community service projects as well as my time in Norway!
