Emergency Help with Vet Bills For Our Foster Pup

Donation protected

We are fostering a 13week old working cocker spaniel puppy before she goes to her forever home in August. On the 23rd of July while in her crate the pup let out a terrifying scream and was left unable to open her jaw. After a visit to the late-night emergency vet clinic and an Xray later it was confirmed she had fractured her jaw on the left side. The vets required further investigation (CT scan) to determine the full extent of the situation as there was no obvious signs of trauma or soft tissue damage.

There was an insurance policy through Kennel Club in place however due to technicalities they have now cancelled the policy leaving us in a position where we have to covere the expenses of the emergency vet, CT scan and surgical procedure. As contact had been made with an insurance company about this injury it means it is now a pre-existing condition and we are now not eligible for any insurance cover for this situation. We have taken the risk to pay for the surgical procedure as the only other option was euthanasia, and that is just not fair for such an energetic & happy puppy. The time frame for a successful outcome was very small due to her age and her bones growing and developing constantly so we had to make the call within 24hrs.

Our priority is to ensure the welfare of the pup but unfortunately we are not in a great position financially to cover absolutely everything. We are looking to raise some money to help cover part of the bill. This will ensure the pup can continue to heal so she can be reunited with her owner and live a long and happy life.

The breeder, the new owner and ourselves are doing everything possible with our own personal situations to help, but we can only do so much. Whether it’s a donation or sharing what has happened, finding out your policy is not valid after seeking emergency treatment is a tough position to be in and I know we aren’t the first or the last.

With all our heart we want to fight for the little pup as she deserves to have a wonderful life and we want to do what is best for her.

We are not looking for money to cover all the fees but if we do raise over the amount needed we would love to be able to forward pay money to a vets so that someone in a similar situation can get some help in their time of need.

Please note the breeder is doing everything they can to make sure the welfare of the pup is the number 1 priority.

Thankyou so much for everyone for helping or even spreading awareness.
