Help Yafa after hurricane floods
Yafa Cafe serves excellent ethically-sourced coffee from Yemen and around the world, an authentic modern dining experience, and is a hub for intercultural exchange within our home of Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
After a hectic year of recovery from the pandemic, Yafa Cafe was ready to open its doors for indoor dining and community events, but the difficult decision to close for remodeling had to be made. It always hurts to shutter your business for any amount of time.
On the night of September 1st, an unprecedented storm trailed through the city of New York and with it, flash floods. We were only days away from completing our remodel and re-opening our doors to the public.
Our dining room, dedicated events room and newly remodeled basement all suffered from serious flooding and subsequent water damage. Ceilings, Fresh paints, Sheetrock, and even concrete have been torn from their places. Our beloved coffees and merch all ruined.
It pains me to be writing this, but our insurance is only offering to cover so much. Help Yafa get back on its feet.
We love our community and this is only a road block. We’ll be back to serving you all, stronger and better than ever. Keep up with our progress on Instagram @yafabrooklyn. Stay safe, friends.
