Help Yahyia
Donation protected
My friend Yahyia is a young man from Yemen who has been tortured and threatened with death by his family because he is transgender. With the help of a few kind strangers (like you), he has been able to leave his home city. When we got him out of that city, we had a plan to get him to a safe country where he could claim asylum. And then COVID happened. International travel became almost impossible, and our plan fell apart. Since then, Yahyia has been in limbo: away from the original danger, but stuck in a place where queer people face daily harassment and the threat of arrest.
Yahyia is alone, unsafe, and asking for our help. For now, he needs money to cover rent and food. Because a lot of the normal means of travel are still not available to Yahyia, he also needs to pay for a lawyer to help him find a way into a safe country. As soon as possible, he'll need airfare and a place to stay in a new country.
These days we're all dealing with a lot of tragedy, both personal and global. I ask that you make a little room in your heart (and your budget) for another person in need.
I used to run a nonprofit organization that worked with Yemenis. I've known Yahyia for a while, and I have been sending him donations from other kind people for over a year now. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them if you send me a question using the "contact" button below.
Thank you!
