Support Yasemin to Attend MIT’s Ceramic Petrography Course
Donation protected
This campaign is organized by Jan Kees, Yasemin's partner, as GoFundMe is not available in Turkey. As a Dutch-Turkish couple, we are working together to make this possible.
Hi everyone! I’m Yasemin Akıncı, a PhD candidate in archaeology, specializing in Hittite ceramics—the pottery of Anatolia’s first empire, dating back 3,400 years. Studying these ceramics helps us understand the economy, social structure, and connections of the Hittites with neighboring cultures. It’s fascinating, but also challenging, which is why certain scientific analyses are essential. One of the most important methods is petrography.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been selected for MIT’s Summer Intensive Course on Ceramic Petrography! This highly competitive program accepts only 12 researchers worldwide, and I’m honored to be one of them. For more details about the MIT Summer Petrography Course, you can check the official program page here: https://cmrae.mit.edu/education/summer/
This course will provide world-class training crucial for my research, but I need financial support to attend. The course fee, which includes accommodation, is $5,000. While I still need to cover travel and visa expenses separately, my first goal is securing my place in the program.
By supporting me, you’re not only helping my research, but also contributing to the advancement of archaeological science as a whole. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated! Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would help me reach more people.
Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
