Help Yazan's Family Survive In Gaza

Yazan is a 16-year-old Palestinian boy from Khuza'a, a border town in the southern Gaza Strip. As the eldest of his siblings, he carries the difficult responsibility of fundraising for his family of 7's survival. For many months, they've endured continual displacement after the unjust, ongoing genocide destroyed their home and any income/savings they had. Displaced 10 times since last fall, Yazan stays between al-Mawasi and Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, along with his parents, grandparents, and two younger sisters.

I am a community organizer based in New York City. When we initially connected with Yazan over social media in May 2024, we successfully crowdfunded for Yazan's family to evacuate and relocate their temporary encampment amidst the ground invasion of Rafah. Since then, we have helped his family through 4 more displacements. We have since also raised additional weekly survival funds for Yazan's family to access essentials like food, water, and a means to cook.

For now, funds will be used for the family's survival and any emergencies as we all desperately wait for the situation to change. In the long-term, Yazan's family is saving whatever they can from your donations in hopes to evacuate from the Gaza Strip in order to have the best chance of a safe life. For his family of 7, this would likely cost $30,000 total: $20,000 for his parents and two grandparents, and $10,000 for the three children, to be paid to Hala Travel and Tourism Company in Cairo, Egypt. The Rafah Border Crossing is still closed since being seized and occupied in early May 2024, but we are still collecting donations in the meantime to give Yazan's family the greatest options for survival depending on how the situation changes. Yazan's dream since childhood is to study medicine in the United States. Your support would mean everything towards realizing his dream.
