Who am I and why I am raising funds?

My name is Younis J. Y. Al Hallaq, and I am 25 years old. My family has survived more than 200 days of displacement, fear, trauma, separation, and hunger. My mother suffers from a heart condition that requires surgery, and my father, who is 56, has back problems that cause him a lot of pain. They are currently in Rafah, and they have been told to move to a different area, but are in too poor health to relocate for the fifth time. I am creating this fundraiser to evacuate my family to Egypt so that they can escape the bombing in Rafah and get the medical care they need. My parents are old, and they cannot survive the ongoing war.

I am a long-time writer and contributor to We Are Not Numbers, a project established by the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor.

Here’s a medical record from the Ministry of Health my mom got a few weeks ago stating that mom needs surgery on her heart valve as soon as possible:

This campaign is also to evacuate my brother, Nader Jalal Elhallaq, his wife, Sura Sufian Musa, and their newborn baby, Jalal. Jalal was born in the first month of the war and has not gotten his birth vaccines.

My family is living in a tent in Rafah, and they have nowhere to go now that Israel is invading Rafa.

As known and clear in each channel in all countries, Israel has destroyed Gaza completely. My father’s house has been demolished due to the heinous war in Gaza. As a result of this, my little family has been living in a tent for more than 4 months and the situation is devastating. They can rarely get medicine, and sources of food are destitute, especially now that so many of the crossings are closed. My mom suffers from narrowed arteries that cause a lot of pain for her which does not enable her to live this exhausted lifestyle of walking destinations or to do anything else. In addition, my father suffers from a problem with his spine, and he is suffering from continued displacement and sleeping on the earth above lots of sand in a tent; he’s in pain all the time because of this. Therefore, I am fundraising for Compagnie to evacuate my family to Egypt ASAP.

How the money will be used

My brother and his wife: 10,000$ USD

My niece: 2,500$ USD

Life necessities such as renting a house, food, medicine, clothes, appointments with doctors, surgery if needed for my father, and other needs for the whole family costs for at least 4-6 months from 10,000 $ USD to 12,000 $ USD.
