Help Young Couple Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
You never think it's going to happen to you - or that you will ever experience such a devastating loss that you absolutely need help from family and friends to make it through. But as a family friend to Hannah (McLaughlin) and Ian McGlory I am asking for your help.
Hannah and Ian's lives were upended on August 15 when a fire broke out in their kitchen in Reno, NV. No one was home at the time, and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The kitchen contents (which included Ian's home office) were entirely destroyed. Further investigation shows that the apartment now has asbestos - so it is currently unclear as to whether any items from the other rooms are going to be salvageable. Even if they are, everything will have to be cleaned and sanitized - an effort that will require time and additional money.
Their two cats were rescued but had to be given oxygen - and very sadly - one of the cats has now passed away.
Their landlord is putting them up in a hotel for a week which is very generous but they will have to find a new place to live quickly. They have renter's insurance, but when you have to replace so much - it doesn't amount to a lot.
It is going to take time for them to rebuild their lives. Anyone that knows this family is certain they will be stronger than ever in no time at all, but in the meantime, support from family, friends and community will hopefully let them begin to locate a new home and replace basic necessities. Thank you all for your support in this difficult time.
