Help Your Special Kneads Community Stay Comfy

Hi, we are Jeremy and Nicole Painter. We are trying to raise funds for a furnace for Special Kneads Bakery in Galva, IL. This bakery was started by a wonderful lady, Margaret Cortes, and her family. They started this bakery to help their super amazing son, Frankie, have a way to step into adulthood and continue to have daily purpose and independence. Frankie and our daughter, Megan, met through their neighboring Life Skills programs in High School. They became fast friends.

This bakery provides an invaluable resource to the special needs community. Many of us parents/guardians are at an absolute loss as what to do with our children once school is no longer an option or fit. Our children have so much to offer the world and are so very talented. However, they require a good deal of assistance for that to be carried out on a daily basis. The world is a very scary place for all starting out, now imagine having a 21 year old body, but the mental intelligence/capacity of a very young child for life (this is our Meg). The options for someone like Megan are very limited, even if they do exist.

Special Kneads Bakery is opening so many opportunities for Megan and her friends in our rural communities. The vision Margaret has for this safe haven is truly a God Sent. Margaret wants this to be a place for all to be accepted, loved, and valued. She wants to be able to give those with unique challenges a chance to excel and be as independent as possible.

The Bakery is currently in desperate need of a furnace. They have been running off overhead type heaters that are extremely inefficient. One of them has also recently died. They need a good gas furnace to keep their workers and patrons warm during these cold days in Illinois. This is an IMMEDIATE need. Special Kneads does not currently have a Non Profit status, but is a For Profit business. The heart of this business, however, is one of service to those that are the most vulnerable among us in our humble opinion. The chance it provides those like Megan and Frankie has no price tag.

We appreciate any and all help. Please share this fundraiser even if you can not contribute financially. Prayers/Good Vibes, etc are also always desired as well. Make sure to stop into the Bakery whenever you find yourself in Galva as you may enter a stranger, but leave a friend always. Check out the amazing things happening there.
