Help Yousef Rebuild His Life Away from Conflict

My name is Mohannad, and my father Nidal has been friends with Yousef's father Nabil for almost 40 years. They met in Amman, Jordan in the 1980s. In the 1990s, we moved to Canada and the Abu Meri's moved to Gaza. Despite living apart, Nidal and Nabil have kept in touch.

In the fall semester of 2023, Yousef was enrolled in university with the ambition like anyone his age to study, succeed and pursue his dreams. In the time since, his university was destroyed like everything else in the city he grew up in. Sadly, his only hope to complete his education is to seek a way to study abroad.

A message from Yousef Abu Meri

Hi everyone,

My name is Yousef Abu Meri, and I am 20 years old. I live in Deir al-Balah, in the Gaza Strip. Before October 7th, my life was happy. I was a university student at the University College in Gaza, majoring in Mobile Application Design.

However, the war has drastically changed our lives. We are now living in dire conditions, facing severe shortages of water, food, and medicine. Despite these hardships, I am grateful to have been able to help my fellow citizens. Along with some friends, I have been distributing clean drinking water to displaced people in camps throughout the city. We also provide daily food parcels and ready-made meals to our displaced brothers and sisters, thanks to the generous support of some donors.

My goal with this campaign is to raise funds to travel, build a new life in peace, and continue my university education away from the devastation of war.

حيث واجهنا أزمة في شتى امور المعيشة من إنقطاع

للماء والغذاء والدواء.

والحمد لله الذي وفقني انا وبعض من اصدقائي في

مساعدة أبناء شعبنا بتوفير المياه الصالحة للشرب عن طريق توزيعها في مخيمات النازحين في المدينة

كما وكنا ومازلنا نوفر لاخوتنا النازحين الطرود الغذائية والطعام الجاهز بشكل يومي . وذلك بدعم من بعض الاخوة المتبرعين جزاهم الله كل خير.

ان هدفي من هذه الحملة هو جمع بعض المال للسفر وبناء حياة جديدة والعيش بسلام بعيدا عن أذى الحروب واستكمال مسيرتنا الجامعية.

How the funds will get there

I am in direct contact with Yousef's father. The funds will first be deposited to a bank account I created in order to enable us to fundraise in CAD and make it easier for donors to support the campaign. As funds are received, I plan to send the money raised directly to Yousef in Gaza. I have already been able to transfer money to the family successfully.

Although these are extraordinary circumstances, it is still not easy to ask for financial assistance. Do not let this family down. Please donate and share today.
