Help Yousif Escape Danger and Find Safety

hey! my name is yousif, i’m 23 years old, from iraq and i’m seeking help to escape my country and build a safe life somewhere else.

i’m a queer ex-muslim and my identity puts me in extreme danger in iraq; it has always been a de facto crime but recently the government passed laws criminalizing homosexuality, making it impossible for me to express myself and live openly or safely.

my family berates and scrutinizes me, and always surveils everything that i do on a daily basis due to who i am and how i identify. i'm in constant worry because i never even know if i'm going to be here tomorrow. my life is at constant risk due to who i am and staying here means facing persecution, violence, or even worse.

i’m raising funds to cover the costs of leaving iraq and seeking asylum in a safe country, these funds will go towards travel expenses and fees such as visas and plane tickets as well as legal and living costs while applying for asylum and of course basic needs like food and shelter during the transition.

every donation brings me closer to safety and the chance to live a life where i’m not punished for being myself. and even if you can’t donate, sharing this with others would mean the world to me.
