Help Yovany Support the Girls He Loves Like His Own

Donation protected
If you’ve ever crossed paths with Yovany, chances are you were met with a warm smile, a hearty laugh, and a genuine offer to help with whatever you needed. My family was lucky enough to meet him through softball, and we’ve become fast friends. He’s the kind of person who shows up no matter what he’s going through. His story is one of quiet strength, deep compassion, and extraordinary love.

In the summer of 2022, Yovany and his wife Alejandra took their daughters, Aly (now 14) and Bella (12), on a family trip to Puerto Vallarta. What began as a joyful vacation quickly turned into a nightmare. On the first day, Alejandra began feeling unwell—headaches, chills. By the third day, she was struggling to breathe. In Yovany’s arms, her hand slipped from his chest and she collapsed. Alejandra passed away from a heart attack at just 28 years old.

Alejandra was a beloved second-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary, a devoted mother, and Yovany’s high school sweetheart. She was strong, selfless, and full of ambition. Her loss left a hole that could never be filled—but Yovany, through heartbreak, found the strength to keep going for his daughters. Since then, he has been raising Aly and Bella on his own, guiding them with patience, love, and resilience.

Then, life brought someone unexpected into their circle: Nancy, a single mother of three girls—now 14, 15, and 17—whom Yovany met through their daughters' shared love of softball. The two families grew close, supporting each other through the ups and downs of single parenthood.

In another cruel twist of fate, Nancy was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. And once again, Yovany stepped up—helping with rides, meals, school, softball, and emotional support. As her condition worsened, Nancy made one final, courageous request: that Yovany become the guardian of her daughters. Without hesitation, he said yes.

Nancy lost her battle with cancer on March 19th. Today, Yovany is raising five teenage girls—each grieving, growing, and navigating life’s challenges. He lives in Fallbrook, works full-time as a postman in Carlsbad, gets the girls to two different schools in San Marcos and Vista, is helping the oldest get ready for college, and still helps coach their softball teams. And through it all, he’s still the same warm, upbeat, dependable man everyone knows and loves. You’d never guess the pain he’s carried.

Though Nancy left some financial support for her girls, raising five teenagers alone—emotionally, logistically, and financially—is a mountain few could climb. This fundraiser is our way of helping someone who never asks for anything, but gives everything.
If you feel moved to support Yovany and these five amazing girls—whether through a donation, a share, or a kind word—we are deeply grateful. Every gesture helps lighten the load for a father who continues to carry it all with unmatched grace.

Let’s surround this incredible family with the love and support they so deeply deserve.
