Help Yuna Give Birth At Home
Donation protected
Yuna and John Grafft are having a baby on December 10th and wish to give birth in the comfort of their own home with the aid of a certified nurse-midwife (CNM). Unfortunately, insurance does not cover this. While atypical in the United States, the use of a midwife is not only common in other cultures, but covered by insurance in the majority of the developed world. Germany is a good example where you choose your birthing plan and insurance covers the costs regardless of location.
We are looking for the support of our friends and families to help reduce the financial strain when we welcome our baby into the world.
If you're reading this, we know you love us, but naturally may have some questions:
How will the money be used?
We are hiring a midwife and doula to assist with our birth and post-pregnancy services.
What's a home birth?
What if something goes wrong?
We are 1.1 mi from Northwestern and have discussed our plans with our doctor and midwife. Yuna has low-risk factors.
Are you endangering your child for your own convenience?
Of course not. This peer-reviewed study shows there is not a significant difference in the outcome, and this study, reinforced by this study shows less medical intervention when a baby is born at home. Here is a video as well:
What's a Doula:
A doula is a professional labor assistant who provides physical and emotional support to you and your partner during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.
We appreciate your support in our chosen birth plan.
