Help Yvonne, Ian and Momo Cocoa After Fire in NE Portland
Donation protected
Help support NE Portland small business owners after a devastating house fire destroyed their home and office.
On the afternoon of Sunday, July 7th, 2024, a fire broke out in the attic of Yvonne and Ian's rental home in NE Portland. In the 95-degree heat that day, the fire quickly gained momentum. Luckily, a neighbor spotted the smoke and flames, and the fire department was able to get the fire under control before it spread to neighboring houses. In the chaos of the smoke and destruction, their cat Maxine went missing. Luckily, Maxine was found hiding in the rubble the next morning, terrified but unharmed.
Yvonne and Ian are the owners of a local Portland hot cocoa company called Momo Cocoa. Founded in 2017, Momo Cocoa is sold at the Vancouver and Beaverton farmers markets, and local cafes like Jam on Hawthorne and Cricket Cafe.
Though the Station 14 firefighters acted quickly to put out the flames, the fire, water, and structural damage have completely destroyed their home, office, and all of their personal belongings. Yvonne, Ian, and Maxine are now facing homelessness, as well as a huge setback for their small business.
As a mutual friend of Yvonne, I'm hoping that our community can rally around Yvonne and Ian, to help support them through this emergency. This money will be used to pay for temporary housing and other essential life expenses for Yvonne, Ian and Maxine, as they navigate this tragedy.
