Help Zac - Hit and run on bike

Hi, my name is Katie Aaron and I'm fundraising alongside David Moore and Ryan Hostetler for our best friend Zac Owens. Zac was the victim of a devastating hit and run while he was cycling by the Downtown KC airport on Thursday 12/8/2022. Zac is an avid rider and we want to get him healthy and back on his bike as soon as possible.

Zac was hit head-on by the vehicle as it was driving on the wrong side of the road and he suffered numerous injuries to the left side of his body. He had two open compound fractures to his femur and 3 lacerations to his left leg, as well as 4 lacerations to his left hand that resulted in exposed tendons. He went through emergency surgery on Thursday night, followed by an additional surgery on Saturday, and will have more in the future to correct all the damage.

We do not know who hit Zac, but we know that he was struck by a white sedan. The cops are currently investigating in hopes of finding the perpetrator.

We are hoping to raise money to help Zac with his medical bills, home medical equipment to aid in recovery, and additionally to buy him a new bike once he has fully healed. Any remaining funds will be donated equally to revolvekc.org and bikewalkkc.org to assist in biking advocacy and education.
