Help Zakiya with Transportation
Donation protected
Hey everyone, my name is Zakiya Johnson. I am a senior attending Thee Jackson State University in Jackson, MS majoring in Meteorology. I am 21 years old, living off campus, and I am originally from Georgia. It's quite difficult for me to ask for help but I’m definitely in need of my village. Transportation has always been an obstacle for me as well as my parents for a while. I have asked and given money for rides, rode public transportation, shared vehicles and have walked to where I needed to be for school, practices, and events from middle school up until now.
I purchased a used car earlier this year but unfortunately it remains at home with internal issues we are still trying to solve.
I ask my peers for rides but mostly I've ordered rides to and from school which averages to about $32 a day. There are very few places within walking distance are not hiring for jobs. Finding one around my school schedule and research hours is difficult and even with overnight hours I will still have to pay for rides at questionable hours.
God has blessed me with a consistent paid internship, and it covers my bills and tuition. The $32 each day for 5 days a week adds up ($160 weekly) and in the near future I will not be able to afford rides to school.
I am responsible with my spending and my parents help me out to the best of their ability but I would like to ask for donations to help me with transportation either to assist with mechanic costs or to be able to order rides to school each week. In the future hopefully I’ll be able to commute to a job to be able to pay for those expenses.
Thank you for your consideration, please donate if you can, anything helps and share with others!
