Help Zalia Heal: A Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family and Supporters,
My name is Jim and I come to you with a heavy heart on behalf of Zalia, a bright and brave 18-year-old student at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
For several years while living in America I was lucky enough to be a part of her life as her step dad. In that time I saw her grow from a bubbly and curious little girl into a bold, life-loving and ambitious young woman with so much love in her heart and light in her eyes. I couldn't be more proud of her and it breaks my heart to tell you that Zalia's dreams have been abruptly halted by a devastating car accident.
On April 14th her life changed forever. The crash left her with a spinal cord injury, multiple fractures to her neck, skull, and face, along with a broken pelvis and arm. The spinal injury is the most terrifying as at the time of writing this she has no sensation from the waist down.
Now she's lying in a hospital bed fighting for her life, unable to breathe without mechanical assistance. As she begins her long road back to health we're facing a different kind of struggle. The financial burden of medical bills looms large, casting a long shadow over Zalia's future. Her mother, Rozlyn, stands to be her primary caregiver and is pouring every ounce of love and strength she has into her daughter's healing process.
The road ahead is going to be long and arduous, filled with uncertainties and challenges. That's why I'm reaching out to you for support. I've set up this GoFundMe campaign to try to alleviate the overwhelming burden of medical expenses and ongoing care costs.
Every penny raised will go directly to Zalia's medical treatments, physical therapy sessions, and other essential support services.
No contribution is too small. Any donation will be received with infinite gratitude, but even a simple share with friends, family, social groups etc. can make the world of difference. I've told the Americans that we Brits are a kind and compassionate people in a crisis and I'm really hoping we can show them what we're made of.
With your support, I'm hoping Zalia can reclaim the life she loves and pursue her life's dreams once again. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any and all support you can offer in this devastating time
With love and gratitude,
Jim
