Update 4/18
Since her accident on 4/14 Zalia has had a major neck surgery to relieve pressure on her spinal cord. She still needs future surgeries to repair her broken pelvis, arm and facial fractures. Drs have decided to postpone Zalia’s next surgeries until she rebuilds her respiratory strength and can handle anesthesia safely.
Drs have also let the family know that Z will be in Phoenix likely for at least 3 months before she is ready to be in a longer term rehab. This means that Roz and the family will be in Arizona through the summer supporting Zalia. Thank you for sharing with your communities and keeping Zalia and the Sturtevant/Oliva family in your prayers
We are reaching out on behalf of Zalia, our beloved 18-year-old freshman at Grand Canyon University who was recently involved in a major car accident.
Zalia is a bright, funny, fearless, student with a dream of studying criminal justice and following in her great grandfather and aunts footsteps with a career in law enforcement.
However, Zalia was in a major car accident on April 14th, leaving her with a spinal cord injury multiple neck, scull, and facial fractures, as well as a broken pelvis and arm.
This unforeseen life changing accident has put a pause on her dreams and has left her and the Sturtevant/Oliva family with significant medical bills and a long road to recovery.
Zalia is currently in the hospital, bravely fighting her way back to health. The road to recovery is going to be long and challenging, not just for Zalia, but also for her family and her mother Rozlyn who will be her primary caregiver.
They are doing everything they can to support her during this difficult time, but the financial burden will be overwhelming. We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help the Sturtevant/ Oliva family with the mounting medical bills and the ongoing support costs associated with her recovery.
The funds raised will go directly towards Zalia's medical expenses, physical therapy, and other support costs to allow the family to focus on recovery.
Any contribution, no matter how small, can make a huge difference. Please share with your friends and family if you are able. Please also join in lifting Zalia, her parents and and their whole family in prayer as they face the long journey of healing. We are hopeful that with your support, Zalia can focus on her recovery without the added stress of financial burden. Let’s come together and help Zalia get back to living the life she loves ❤️
